10 Healthy Travel Essentials to Stay Energized, Fit, and Focused on the Go

Traveling is exciting—but if you’ve ever found yourself exhausted, stiff, and living off airport snacks, you know it can easily throw your routine off track. Poor sleep, messy meals, and makeshift workstations can leave your body and brain feeling totally out of sync.

As someone who travels often for work and fun, I’ve refined a list of tried-and-true travel essentials that keep me feeling good, energized, and productive—even when I’m halfway across the world.

Here are the top 10 health and fitness travel essentials I never leave home without (with all the links below!):

1. Packable Backpack

Forget bulky bags. A packable backpack folds into the size of a small pouch and expands into a full-size daypack—perfect for spontaneous workouts, sightseeing, or trips to the store without disturbing your main luggage. It’s lightweight, practical, and takes up minimal space in your suitcase.

2. Collapsible Shaker Bottle + Protein Powder

Maintaining your protein intake on the go is a game changer—especially when meals are unpredictable. I travel with a collapsible shaker bottle and a few scoops of my favorite Legion protein powder. It’s easy to get through TSA, and you can mix it up with water at the airport or hotel—no spoon-stirring disasters here.

3. Portable Laptop Riser + Bluetooth Keyboard

Working hunched over a hotel desk? Not ideal. My portable laptop stand and Bluetooth keyboard (MX Keys Mini) have saved my posture and boosted my productivity. Both are ultra-lightweight and compact, fitting neatly into my backpack. Your neck and shoulders will thank you.

4. Sleep Kit: Eye Mask, Earplugs, and Fan Noise App

If you've ever tried to sleep in a noisy hotel room with bright street lights beaming through the window, you know how important sleep accessories are. I always pack:

  • A silk eye mask

  • Foam earplugs

  • The Fan Noise app (free and super effective for drowning out ambient sounds)

Better sleep = better energy, better workouts, and a better mood.

5. High-Protein, Travel-Friendly Snacks

Don’t rely on gas station granola bars or overpriced airport food. I pack high-protein snacks that won’t melt, crumble, or leave me starving. Two favorites:

  • Savory Bar – a salty, satisfying option

  • David’s Bar – sweet, high in protein, and super filling

Both clock in with over 20g of protein and are perfect for long travel days or emergency hunger situations.

6. Instant Coffee with Collagen Protein

Not every hotel has a coffee maker (tragic, I know). That’s why I bring Projo instant coffee sticks. These not only provide a caffeine fix, but also include 12g of hydrolyzed collagen protein and built-in creamer. Mix with hot or cold water—or add it to a protein shake for a delicious mocha boost.

7. Bounce App – Luggage Storage Anywhere

Landing in a new city with hours until check-in? Use Bounce, an app that lets you store your luggage at vetted local spots (like barbershops or stores) for a small daily fee. I’ve used it everywhere—from Rome to NYC—and it’s been a total lifesaver for maximizing freedom without dragging a suitcase.

8. ResortPass – Affordable Access to Hotel Amenities

Need a quiet place to work, shower, or just relax post-checkout? ResortPass lets you access unused hotel amenities (like day rooms, pools, and business centers) for a fraction of the price. It’s perfect for killing time between meetings or flights in comfort and style.

9. DeskPass – Flexible Co-Working Spaces

Remote workers, meet your new favorite app. DeskPass gives you access to co-working spaces across major cities without needing a monthly membership. It’s ideal for finding a quiet place to focus, take calls, or access a professional environment on demand.

10. Workfrom.co – Find Work-Friendly Cafes

If you’re traveling and want to work from a café instead of paying for a co-working space, check out Workfrom.co. It’s a user-curated directory of cafes and public spaces with Wi-Fi. You can filter by noise level, amenities, and more—plus many listings include Wi-Fi passwords!

Final Thoughts

Whether you're traveling for business, adventure, or a bit of both, staying energized and grounded comes down to smart prep. These health and fitness travel essentials help you maintain your routines, keep your energy high, and make the most of every trip—without the overwhelm.
